Halloween Treat

With Halloween quickly approaching, I wanted to find a fun and easy treat to make with my daughter. We both love candy and popcorn, so I thought, why not put the to together. What I came up with were, popcorn squares. Much like rice krispy treats, these squares are fun to make and delicious. Have making these quick and easy treats with your little one this Halloween.

Popcorn Squares

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/3 cup popcorn
1 bag mini marshmallows
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
assorted chocolate candies (we used m&m's, snickers, kit kats & reeses cups)
Vegetable cooking spray

Spray a large bowl and cookie sheet with vegetable cooking spray. Heat oil in a medium sized saucepan with lid. Add popcorn and cook over medium low heat until completely popped (about 3 minutes). Put popcorn in bowl. Melt butter and marshmallows together and added to cooked popcorn and mix until incorporated. Spread out onto cookie sheet and top with your candies. Let firm for about 1 to 2 hours then break into 2" pieces and store in an airtight container.

  2. They're super easy and I bet the boys would love them. I sprinkled a little kosher salt over the top to cut some of the sweetness though. Just something fun to do with the kids.
