Birthdays, Birthdays, Birthdays

March is full of major milestone birthday's in our little family. My daughter turned 5 this past Sunday and my son is 1yr old today. I certainly wouldn't have planned on having kids with birthday's four days apart but we have somehow managed the craziness. This year for my daughter's birthday, she told me she wanted a strawberry, vanilla and chocolate cake. So I thought and thought, how in the world am I going to manage that. Then it hit me and it was so simple. I decided on a two layer cake (one chocolate, one vanilla) filled and covered with strawberry buttercream (ok I cheated and bought a canned strawberry frosting). I am not the best at cake decorating but I truly believe that a homemade cake means more to my kids than anything I could buy in a store for them and I do love to bake. For her birthday, I always let my little girl pick an edible image off Ebay and then we plan her party theme around that image. I love, love, love, the edible image and always had great success with the ones that I have purchased off Ebay. They are so easy to decorate with and I think really make the cake look fun.
